Oh, you’re just in time!
This is one of my favorite songs in the playlist, and it’s by a band you probably wouldn’t expect. Let me give you some clues.
A version of this song was adapted to serve as the introductory music for The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy on BBC and BBC Radio, and appears in the film of the same name.
It’s instrumental and has a haunting quality to it.
The original recording was done by The Eagles.
It’s Journey of the Sorcerer.
It’s tied to the last chapter in book 1, chapter 17. It’s the first time that Kendra, and the Enterprise, are getting back out into space in this book, and since the exploration of space is her dream the song seems to carry the right tone. She wants to get out there and go, see what happens. And, just throwing this out there, does anyone remember this line from The Hobbit: “The longest journey begins with a single step”?
Enjoy today’s song!
